Who Are We?
Steps of Faith (SOF) is a discipleship/Hip Hop dance ministry for students from high school through college.  We started the group in February of 2002 after a kick-off seminar we had in Nov. 2001 featuring the group that stood as our model, Steps of Praise (SOP) out of San Diego.  SOP held our hand for the first four years and openly shared their choreography with us, and leader/founder Adrian Ewings gave us open access to himself and the team, enabling us to thrive and grow.  We feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to look to them for guidance. As we grow in dance we learn to worship our Lord with all that we have and all that we are! What more could we ask for?

SOF has always had its emphasis on discipleship, though.  Our intention is to train up our members in the knowledge of Christ and then use the dancing to open doors for ministry and outreach.  Our motto, “I am not, but I know I AM” was inspired by speaker Louie Giglio, who used the phrase to refer to Ex. 3:14 when Moses told God he wasn’t equipped to do the work God was calling him to and God told him it didn’t matter because He (God) was “I AM” and He (God) could do anything through Moses. We in SOF know there is nothing of substance we can do on our own, but with God working in and through us, anything is possible!

Those who sign up for SOF learn that it takes dedication, discipline, and a heart for people to be a part of this team. Besides dancing, we are continually looking to serve through outreaches such as Christmas boxes for the homeless or gleaning citrus for food banks and homeless shelters. It’s when we serve others that we truly see the heart of Jesus at work in us!
